Led by the Holy Spirit is an exhibition of charcoal portraits that embody the journey of Alpha Massaquoi as he navigates out of the darkness caused by pain and into the light of love. Taking inspiration from Gothic period paintings, emphasizing the figure’s importance through light depiction, he employs dramatic effects of contrast and depicts individuals whose life experiences bears similarities to his own.

Short poem

I want to get rapture but not raptored, dead but still alive, So every time I write these rhymes, I put a little bit of my life on the line. Walking on the front line of love while capturing your imagination and infatuation with these chapters of my pain, leaving behind the blueprint for the next, so he may not be captured by my sins. Oh! The things I’ve seen, what a pain. cast ye all your burden upon me, I think that's what He said. Or am I insane to put my trust in Him, but my pains are so heavy; I want to shed this flesh. Starting fresh and not being such an emotional mess but the truth is all I do is suppress. Wearing this mask, acting all cool while trying to hold it all together

SILLY RABBIT!

Try Jesus and not pain; let it go,

and watch your soul sing

on and on and on and on,

because life is a gift

and this is where you belong

held by the arm of love

In communion with ONE

Being refined by love, into the most beautiful

Because your history is not who you are

So drop your guard and be Led by the Holy spirit
